Madequecham is one of the more remote areas of Nantucket, and consists of just a few roads surrounded by conservation land and the ocean. The airport lies to the west and Tom Nevers to the east. For many folks, the only time that they have even heard of this area is through stories of the Madequecham Jam, a boisterous beach bash, surf contest, and music fest held every August from 1970 to the 1990s.
The time eventually came for the Jam to be cemented in history, leaving behind but a serene, unspoiled beach for adventurers who like to get off the beaten path to enjoy. As is common on the south shore, the wave heights vary from great surfing waves to a calm ebb and flow perfect for passing a football in waist-high water at low tide. Homes in Madequecham are spacious both inside and out and are perfect for enjoying summer cookouts and time with large families, wedding parties, or weekend getaways with a group.
