Celebrating Valentine's Day on the ACK
Whether you are visiting for the weekend, or live here year round, look no further for the best ideas to celebrate the one you love. If you’re not an islander, first order of business is where to stay?
The Greydon House located in Town and close to the ferry, is a romantic and cozy small inn, perfect for a Valentine’s weekend stay or for dinner at their restaurant Via Mare. They offer a Valentine's Day Package which includes a bottle of wine, chocolates, nightly turn down service and continental breakfast.
Another idea for a weekend getaway is to get a place all your own. Most private homes that are open in the winter will rent for stays of 1-2 nights, shorter than the standard in-season minimum of one week. Let the Team at Congdon & Coleman help you find the perfect romantic cottage to celebrate the weekend.
If looking to do something a bit different, the Nantucket Culinary Center will be hosting a cooking demonstration and multi-course dinner. If you ACK fast, you may be one of the lucky couples to enjoy this popular event.
Attention Islanders! The Inquirer & Mirror is offering "Dinner for Two” so make sure to enter by 4 pm on Monday, February 10!
Interested in a sweet treat? The Nantucket Bake Shop makes festive cookies and cupcakes sure to wow the socks off your special someone. Place your order early in the week because Friday they will be sold out for sure!
Wicked Island Bakery offers for its Valentine’s Day Menu - Belgian Chocolate Dipped Strawberries, Chocolate Raspberry Bavarians, Linzer Cookies, Raspberry and Chocolate Macaroons, Heart Shaped Whoopie Pies and Heart Shaped Meringues.
Gifts of flowers and chocolates may seem somewhat boring and typical, but not when it comes to the ACK. Head over to Flowers on Chestnut and have Floral Designer Tim Walker make you a one-of-a-kind arrangement that will be anything but standard or basic.
For your chocolate fix, Sweet Inspirations, Nantucket’s well-known chocolate company is the place to go, offering a variety of Valentines Day inspired chocolates. Would you not agree, the Chocolate Whale with Heart Truffles are too cute! Perfect for the little ones.
For a non-edible gift, pop into one of our year-round boutiques to find a unique island gift. Some Main Street favorites are Vis-à-vis, Murray’s Toggery, and Nantucket Looms.
If you're still unsure of the perfect gift, maybe opt for a more public display of affection. The Inquire & Mirror offers just the opportunity to do so.
Now that plans are set, what about the kids? If you're visiting for the weekend, you have obviously made arrangements already, but if you live on the ACK and have kids between the ages of 6-12, you may wish to look into the “Overnight at the Museum” program offered by the Maria Mitchell Association. Whether you're planning an evening out or staying in, your kids will have the experience of a fun food-science dinner, playful games, engineering challenges, a movie, and more!
