Beer, Lime, and Sunshine: Best 5 Spots to Crack Open a Brew in Nantucket

There’s nothing that hits the spot quite like a cold brew at the end of a hot day. Whether you’re enjoying the sunshine late in the afternoon or taking in a beautiful Nantucket sunset, it’s better with a beer in your hand.

Fortunately, there are countless spots to unwind and take in the scenic views on Nantucket. Here’s a list of a few of our favorite spots to grab a drink, hang out with friends, and fully embrace the island lifestyle:

Cisco Brewers

Take a tour of Cisco Brewers, where you’re sure to enjoy a sample or two before kicking back to enjoy a pint of Cisco’s finest. There’s a brew for every taste and each one truly is better than the one before— though our favorite has to be the Grey Lady, a Belgian style witbier. Have wine-lovers traveling with you? Let them indulge in the cranberry wine made by Cisco’s own winery, Nantucket Vineyard.

Cisco Brewers Nantucket

Cisco’s tasting room is more of an open-air patio where you can hang out, enjoy a game of cornhole, sit by the fire pit, or sample a dish from one of the food trucks. You can even bring your dog! But the best part about this brewery is that they will pick you up in town and bring you back via shuttle bus, so everyone in your group can enjoy the full benefits of each of Cisco’s refreshing beers.

The Rose and Crown Pub

You can’t beat the charm at The Rose and Crown. Originally a livery stable that housed horses and carriages in the 1800s, you’ll feel a little like you stepped back in time when you order a pint of Guinness here. Test your knowledge at trivia night and don’t forget to order a plate of their rich, delectable poutine, which pairs so very well with their beer.

The Rose and Crown has a huge selection of beers served ice cold, which will keep your whole group happy and hydrated. Blend in with the locals and enjoy a pint in this unique pub and maybe even watch a game or two while you’re at it. No matter what night you stop in, You can’t go wrong with The Rose and Crown.

The Gazebo

Fun for everyone, The Gazebo caters to “customers 21 to 91.” The Gazebo is an open air structure that has Cisco beer on tap and several varieties of bottled brews too, along with a healthy selection of mixed drinks if not everyone in your group prefers beer. Right along Nantucket Harbor in Harbor Square, you can’t beat the view or the atmosphere at The Gazebo.

The Gazebo Tavern Nantucket

Settle in to enjoy the open-air setting, and embrace the “come as you are” attitude; there’s no fancy dress code here. Stay relaxed in your shorts and flip-flops and kick back with a cold one for a perfect evening of watching the boats, and the people, go by.

Sandbar at Jetties Beach

Looking for a beautiful beach on which you can enjoy your beer? Look no further than Sandbar at Jetties Beach. This open-air restaurant offers outdoor beach-chair seating as well as at the bar— if you love to drink a beer with your toes in the sand, this is definitely the place for you.

Serving up a variety of beers, ranging from local favorite Cisco Brewers to refreshing beach standards like Corona and Lagunitas, Sandbar has a drink that will suit any mood. There are even frozen concoctions for any non-beer-drinkers in your group— you might be tempted to try Cisco’s Frozen Blue Lemonade yourself!

Sandbar at Jetties Beach Nantucket

Hungry? Sandbar has options for any appetite, including burgers and hot dogs, an unparalleled lobster roll, refreshing salads, and even a raw bar where you can get oysters, littlenecks, and shrimp. You can grab a sandwich to eat on the beach or dress up and enjoy a lobster dinner or perfectly-prepared steak frites for date night.

Millie’s Nantucket

Named after an island inhabitant who spent her life caring for the coast and the wildlife of Nantucket, Millie’s has it all. You can enjoy a fine meal, stop in for a drink, or take a sandwich to-go to enjoy on the beach, all in one spot. Millie’s is very proud of their open-air vibe and laid back attitude.

One of the perks to stopping in at Millie’s for a drink— other than their ice cold beers on tap, in cans, and in bottles— is the opportunity to see the sun set over Madaket Beach. Order a scallop quesadilla to pair with your beer and relax at one of Millie’s outdoor table for a view as spectacular as the beer is revitalizing after a long day spent in the sun.
